Why I chose to make this costume:
At the time I made this outfit, I was still heavily involved in my volunteer work with Upstate SC Heroes. I wanted to get “back to my roots” with a more kid friendly Supergirl, so I set out to make this version. Supergirl will always have a special place in my heart.
Thoughts on this costume:
I was super excited to remake this costume. I had made my first leotard for a friend’s Supergirl costume the year before this, which gave me the confidence to make this outfit myself. I think this was my first “glow up” costume where I felt like I could look back at another version of a character, and really feel like I could tell how much I’d learned in the 3 years I’d been cosplaying at the time.
Sadly, I no longer have this costume, and I may have to add a new version of her to my closet again in the future…
