Peasant Cinderella

Why I chose to make this costume:

I love Cinderella. It is one of my favorite fairytales. My friend Andy and I started talking about shooting this costume forever ago, when I initially thrifted an outfit for it. Making it my own was always a dream though, and I’m happy I had time to truly bring this to life.

Thoughts on this costume:

As stated above, I originally thrifted a costume for these photos. Andy and I have both had quite a few life events between this photoshoot’s conception and execution, including the passing of loved ones, COVID, and one of us moved to Germany and back in there as well.

While Andy was in Germany, I decided to remake this costume with my own sewing skills and really do it justice. Most of the fabrics were already in my fabric stash, and the apron/ hair scarf were made from a friend’s old curtain. I designed the embroidery for the corset myself, and it features motifs of the slipper, pumpkins, and mice friends.

Overall, I’m super super in love with these photos as I love bringing fairytales to life. The bubble scene is one of my all time favorites in the original Disney movie, and we used real bubbles for the shoot.

Thanks to Radiant Studio Collective for having such a beautiful space for these photos. And additional thanks to Rabbit and Hat for always having the perfect base patterns for my fairytale and ren fest creations. And a shout out to my friends for helping with behind the scenes and bubble duty on this shoot, Dani and Sara Beth.
