Liebster Award

About a month ago my friend Mickey over at Nerdily Blog nominated me for the Liebster Award. In case you have never heard of this award it is a cool little award that is by bloggers for bloggers. The general idea is to answer the call to your Liebster nomination, and pass the love along by choosing blogs that are relatively new to the blogging community. It helps generate community and gives some visibility to new bloggers. The six general rules for the Liebster Award are listed below:

  1. Acknowledge (and link!) the blog who nominated you, and display the Liebster Award
  2. Answer 11 questions that the blogger gives you
  3. Give 11 random facts about yourself
  4. Nominate 11 blogs that you think are deserving of this award (bonus points if they have 20 followers or less!)
  5. Give the nominated bloggers 11 questions to answer
  6. Inform the nominated bloggers that they have recieved an award

Liebster Award

I was pretty excited to do answer the call of Mickey’s original post because I’ve been doing a lot of Feature Friday and cosplay posts lately, but haven’t talked much about myself really. This is a fun opportunity to feature myself for you guys. Without further ado, let me answer those questions, and pass the love on.

Q&A

What is your favorite TV show? My favorite TV show really depends on what mood I’m in, and what day of the week/month/year it is. Right now I’m obsessed with Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, and DC Superhero Girls. My ALL TIME favorite TV shows are probably Sailor Moon and

Which fandom(s) do you belong to? I am obsessed with so many things, but luckily, thanks to my friend David at Tales of the Fandom, I had to think about this for his podcast interview I recently partook in. I’d have to say my top five fandoms are (1) Harry Potter (2) Pokemon (3) Sailor Moon (4) Disney (5) Star Wars with an (HM) going to Avatar the Last Airbender/ Legend of Korra.

If you could cosplay as any character, no matter the cost, who would you cosplay as? Oh my goodness. Right now my dream cosplay project is to create a portfolio of all of the Disney Princesses for myself. Of all of the princesses, my dream project would be to do Ariel in her mermaid form.

What was your identity–or what clique did you belong to–in high school? For example: I was a very awkward emo. I’m not really sure how to answer this. Deep down in the heart of me, I’d have to go with the same answer as Mickey and say I was a very awkward emo. I didn’t dress “like an emo”, but every now and then I go home and read my diary. Oh my god. I was such a melodramatic drama queen. I like to call high school “the dark ages.” Most people would have probably called me a nerd though since I was in the highest level math classes, and I was also on the Quiz Bowl and Robotics teams.

Do you have a favorite superhero? If so, who?  Supergirl is BAE. I also have this thing for Spider-Gwen and Captain Marvel. It’s so hard to choose just one with all of the awesome ladies they are currently rewriting in comics.

Are you a cat meme person? Pshhh…. Why is this even a question? Insert all the cat memes here. OK. Just one.

What was your favorite class in school, from any grade level? Physics with Mr. McPhee, and if you went to Penn High School and don’t agree with me. You’re dead to me. OK. Not really, but seriously this is the reason that I am an engineer today. That class and teacher have shaped so much of who I am today.

Where is your favorite place in the whole world?  My favorite place in the world is at my sewing machine. For me, it is a place of peace and serenity. The rest of the world doesn’t matter while I’m sewing, and I love the feeling of complete belonging I feel when I’m working on a new costume.

Team Captain or Team Iron Man? I’m going to go with Iron Man. I love Captain America, but truthfully Iron Man just speaks to the super nerd in me. Plus, he’s so smooth with the ladies. Gotta love that billionaire, genius charm. I also haven’t seen the Civil War movie yet, so maybe my opinions are invalid.

What’s your favorite holiday and/or season? I love Fourth of July and Halloween. Halloween should be pretty self explanatory.  Fourth of July because I love fireworks, and it is now officially “cousin weekend” for me and my cousins. I get to see them this weekend!!!

Did you ever–or still do–own a fanny pack? Yes, yes, and YES! Fanny packs really are genius, and you can judge me all you want for that. I don’t use the ones I own hardly ever, but they should be a thing that never go out of style.

Tech Trek This chick is one of my best friends. Her blog is all about her adventure in teaching herself programming. She is part of the reason I have kept up with my blog this year, and so I wanted to give her a shout out. I’m not sure she will do the award as it really doesn’t fit in with her blogging style, but she deserves the recognition. Plus, she writes about code in a way I understand!

The Costume Wrangler I love supporting other cosplayers. She not only has a cosplay blog, but an online shop where you can buy personal handmade items!

My Fangirl Life This is a great nerdy blog. I love her insights on television shows. Also, maybe not intentional but her logo is Hufflepuff colors. #hufflepuffforlife

Geek Girl Con I’m pretty excited about this. This is actually a convention that has been around since 2011, but they have a blog as well. I feel like every Geek Girl should know about this convention, so I wanted to include them on the list. I’m definitely going to look into the convention and their blog more!

Love, Lydia This girl! She has been so helpful to me in my blogging adventures this year, and I finally got to meet her in person a few weeks ago. Definitely a kind-hearted, inspirational, true geek to go check out.

XO Mermaid Kisses Definitely not new to the blogger world, but her content was great. She has long, well thought posts that cover a wide range of geeky topics. I loved her coverage of E3 a couple weeks ago.

Geekeries De Nyanla This page is awesome because she writes her page primarily in Spanish, but she has everything translated so she can reach twice the audience. Plus, she is a lover of pink hair and pizza. Two things I also love.

Geeky Brunette This blog is a great new blog for the nerd community. I was excited to discover this in searching for bloggers to nominate. Her page is so simple and pretty.

Nerd in the City Fly your geek flag high. Liz is a perfect example of people that I love meeting in the blogging community. She’s girly, geeky, and totally loves being her own nerdy self. She has a book club, and 30 days of geeky hairdos along with lots of other geeky goodness.

Geeks & Lattes A goodreads member and geek girl after my own heart. Not only is she into books, but she loves comics as well. Her gift guides are pretty awesome as well.

Her Story Arc Last but not least!!! I have been following this blog basically since I’ve been blogging. I didn’t see she had done a Liebster award yet, so I am throwing her up here. Definitely go check her out because her blog celebrates the ladies in media and entertainment.

Now it’s time to pay it forward, bloggers!

Thanks for bearing with me through that. I know it was a bit longer than most posts, but I had a lot of fun writing it. I discovered some things about myself in the process as well.
