Why I chose to make this costume:

I believe this group came to be thanks to the lovely Sara Beth and a rise in mash up art for Disney witches in 2021. She gathered the troops, and we were able to collaborate and create these adorable Studio Ghibli inspired witches.

Thoughts on this costume:

This group was so fun. Mash ups almost always turn into some of the most iconic photos. I had actually never seen Castle in the Sky before this group was decided on, but I started sketching out various characters in witch form. I actually designed a Mononoke, Kiki, and Chihiro alongside Sheeta. I’d love to go back and make my Chihiro or Mononoke someday, but where does one have the time?  I am most proud of the hat for this costume as I learned a lot about foam, and probably also inhaled a few too many fumes during my first use of Barge. Whoops! I also intentionally made the base pieces of this outfit more “normal” and wear them in everyday life to this day!
