Feature Friday: OC Harley Quinn

New year. New features. I did better the second year than the first, but let’s see if I can feature even more creatives than both combined in 2018! Kicking off our new year of features is my good friend Sarah, AKA OC Harley Quinn Cosplay. Make sure to give her a follow once you’ve read through the interview. Her social media information is at the bottom.

OC Harley Quinn

What is your cosplay name? My cosplay name is OC Harley Quinn.

How did you come about your cosplay name? Well I live near Osceola, Indiana. Harley Quinn is my favorite character to cosplay, therefore the name OC Harley Quinn was born.

What is your real world name? Sarah, which isn’t quite as fun as Harley Quinn haha.

What do you do when you aren’t cosplaying? I tend to be reading Manga or watching anime. As well as test out cosplay makeup as I can always get better.

How old are you? I am 16 years old.

How long have you been cosplaying? I have been cosplaying since March 2017.

What made you want to start cosplaying? My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer, and I needed some sort of distraction to keep from worrying all the time. I knew that there was a con coming to Elkhart so I decided to go. I figured I would cosplay, and I would go all out. I picked Suicide Squad Harley Quinn. I started working on her in January, and the con was in March.

Why do you continue to cosplay? It helps me to not be as shy or introverted, and I can help others meet their favorite characters.

What is your dream cosplay? Blue Dress Sleeping Beauty hands down!!

What skill would you like to learn most to improve your cosplay abilities?  Learn how to Sew.

How do you choose who you will cosplay? I pick my favorite characters or the characters I feel I can relate to in some way or another.

What is your favorite cosplay you have done so far? Why? Agent Carter, She is my favorite since I got to meet Allen Bellman, which is the last living artist that worked on captain america in the 1940’s. When I met him as Agent Carter he started to cry.

Peggy Carter

What is your next cosplay you are working on? Sailor Neptune from Sailor Moon.

What is your next convention? As of now Hall Of Heroes in Elkhart Indiana.

Who is the cosplayer you most admire? Knightmage is one of the first cosplayers I came across. I admire him the most because he does some amazing charity work.

What’s the hardest thing about cosplay for you? Dealing with hate comments or negativity, It’s something that all cosplayers have to go through. But it makes it hard.

What is the best advice you have for other cosplayers? No matter your age, height, weight or race you can cosplay!! No matter what people say just remember you can do it and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t.

I have been so lucky to have Sarah as a part of my life this past year, and I can’t wait to watch her craft develop as she keeps growing up.
