Geek Week: Colorist Signing

As it turns out, when I travel for work I get extremely busy from wake up to bed time, so geek week has been delayed a few days. Don’t worry. You’ll still be getting five posts total. How bout some weekend posts? Woohoo!

Richard’s Comics and Collectibles is a comic shop in Greenville, SC. I recently started getting acquainted with the owner, Richard, and have been helping him out with some of his events. Up until then I had only been to Borderlands, the other big comic book store in Greenville. Both are awesome, and have their own charm. It’s pretty awesome because I basically doubled my area for awesomeness.

Colorist Signing

Richard hosted his very first colorist signing at his store on March 19. Three comic colorists that are relatively close to Greenville came out to the store to sign their work for the afternoon. One of the artists was none other than the colorist for Spider Gwen, so you might understand why I came out for the event. This post isn’t about my cosplay though. I wanted to tell you about my haul I got because all of them are cosplayable characters, and they signed each of them for me!

Rico Renzi

I had the pleasure of meeting Rico at Captain’s Comic Expo, so it was fun to get to se him again. He is from the Charlotte area. I’m so happy I had another chance to run into him because I forgot my Spider Gwen for him to sign at Captain’s. I also forgot the one I own, but it gave me an excuse to buy The Radioactive Spider Gwen #1 for him to sign. He also does the coloring for The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, so I snagged myself a copy of #1 while I was there too. I found her story pretty entertaining, so I’m happy he convinced me to get both.

Megan Wilson

How cool is this? Megan lives in Greenville! She has worked on both Gwenpool and Hellcat, but she recommended I get Hellcat #1. Much like Starfire in my previous post, I found Patsy Walker’s character very relatable. I’m going to have to keep reading, and I’m also going back for Gwenpool.

Matt Wilson

Last, but definitely not least, Matt is from Atlanta, and you know I had to buy the Captain Marvel #1 he had out on the table. My girrrl, and he did such a great job with it.

If you ever get the chance to go to events like this, I highly recommend it. The more I read comics, the more I realize how much work truly goes into every detail, and It’s so nice to get to meet the people who put their heart and soul into them.
