Official Yelp Event: Yelp + PDQ = A Fresh Combination

At the beginning of the year I was one of the lucky few who got asked to be a part of the Greenville Elite for 2016 on Yelp. I love Yelp, mostly because I love good food, and Yelp helps me find good food. The PDQ of Greenville, SC hosted the Greenville Elite’s first Official Yelp Event (OYE) on Tuesday February 2. This was a great, lighthearted event to start the year off with for Greenville Elite.

What is PDQ?

I will admit I didn’t go on the free tour, but I did learn some things doing my research before dinner and from overhearing other people at the event. PDQ stands for People Dedicated to Quality; it’s also Pretty Darn Quick! The company originated in Tampa, FL in 2013, so I find it impressive that they are already migrating into South Carolina.

They mean quality when they say it. They only serve non-GMO foods, and they don’t have a freezer! That means that everything they have is served fresh daily. It is pretty hard to find food that comes out of a kitchen this fast made this fresh anywhere, so I was impressed. For the event, they provided a wide array of menu items for us to try. I managed to try the chicken nuggets, the crispy chicken sandwich, and the grilled turkey sandwich, which they called “Hand-held Thanksgiving.” The crispy chicken was my favorite. Oh, and let’s not forget the Coffee Cookie Crunch hand-spun milkshake they let us taste. It was also delish!

 The Event

We were greeted at the door and prompted to check-in to the event. This was the first time I had been to any kind of event on Yelp, so it was cool that I learned I could check in. We got a raffle entry for checking in to win free stuff later. Between Josh and I we won a Yelp pint glass and a Yelp notebook.

My favorite part of this event was that the organizer, Anna, had a craft table to make Valentine’s Day cards for the Shrine Children’s Hospital. Coloring+looking out for sick kids=a combination of my two favorite things. Thanks for making this event a little more than just about free stuff and free food.

I’d like to give a huge shout out to Anna for helping to organize this. It was nice to finally meet my #1 Yelp-stalker in person! I’m looking forward to more events in the upcoming year.
