My Top 5 Spring Cosplay Essentials

I’m doing my first collaboration post. In case you are interested, I am a part of an online blogging community called Geeks & Beauties. This post is a part of our February collaboration project “My Spring Top 5.” At the bottom of this post is a link to all of the other girls who participated in this collaboration. Make sure to check out their brilliant works too!

If you hadn’t guessed my post is all about cosplay. What are the top five things you should be buying/doing/looking into this spring for cosplay? Hopefully this list is helpful to you. It’s a bit of a mash up list, but I think it is great nonetheless. Here we go….

  1. New Cosplay! Did we really expect this to not be my first essential? Spring is new beginnings, and that means, TIME TO REVEAL NEW COSTUMES. I mean seriously, why else have you been hibernating through the cold months? I know I have at least 4 new cosplays to reveal in the next two months (If I finish them).

  2. Durable Cosplay I do conventions all year, but a majority of the cons I attend are in the spring. A lot of my new costumes are revealed at these cons, but I also like to have backup costumes that are durable and can be worn over and over again. These are the costumes that I can rely on, and if I don’t finish a costume I know I have one I can easily throw together if I don’t finish something else. I know that Gwen will be my fallback for everything this spring.

  3. Peppermint Essential Oil This is actually a tip from one of my followers of my YouTube channel. They said that if you’re putting on a heavy/hot costume that it will actually keep your body temperature cooler. I figure that maybe the same principle can be applied to the weather getting warmer and cosplay in general?
  4.  Lightweight/Breathable Fabric Fabric can be two things, heavy and lightweight. It is my personal opinion that heavy fabrics are brilliant because I am cold all the time. Let’s be honest though, in the spring it gets warmer, and people require less warm clothes. This is when we switch to lightweight or breathable fabrics that won’t cause extra sweating or smelling.
  5. New Conventions I know the idea of having 5 cons a year to go to sounds great and all, but there are literally hundreds, maybe even thousands of conventions across the US every year.  I want to challenge you to go outside your comfort zone and go to a new convention this spring. Spring is about new beginnings, and who knows… you might start a great new tradition? My two new conventions this spring are Captain’s Comic Expo and PAX East.

What else would you add to this list? I had a lot of fun writing this because it is for other people, and because half a bottle of wine helped. Are you guys as excited as I am for cosplay this spring? Leave a comment below, and don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss a post!

Yeah top 5 list. I just like doing lists and 5 items is just enough to summarize the topic. I do lists all the time. Can’t wait for the next one.
