Memorial Day 2015

Before I say anything else, I want to say Happy Birthday to my Dad! I love you!

Wow, so Memorial Day was two weeks ago. I had such a fun time that day. I’ve been wanting to write about it, and finally found the time. I was lucky enough to get to spend Memorial Day in Chicago with one of my best friends from college, Katherine. She also has an amazing blog which you should check out, Engineering in Style.

We went on a booze cruise off of Navy Pier through Yacht Party Chicago. We bought our tickets through Groupon, and only ended up spending $20 for our tickets. Aside from alcohol purchases that is hella cheap to spend the afternoon on a boat.

I loved having something to get a little bit dressy for. I finally got a chance to wear this skirt. Please excuse my hair, but I didn’t want to crop it down to just my outfit because I loved the city and the water in the background. It’s just representative of how windy the windy city really is.

A few more photos of our afternoon. I adored this lighthouse. I think I took more than twenty photos of it.

I really liked that they had a flag in the back of the boat. It was a nice way to make sure that American was represented while we were having a good time. It’s easy to forget what days like this are actually for, but subtle reminders help to remember why we celebrate.

A visit to Navy Pier wouldn’t be complete without stopping to admire the Ferris Wheel. I really liked snapping some pictures of this with my new camera.

What did you do for Memorial Day? This was something different for me. I generally really like to cookout on national holidays, but new things are fun and exciting too!
